Robert Wayne Pulliam, age 72, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2023, in Coweta, Oklahoma. Born on August 30, 1951, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Robert's life was a testament to hard work and dedication to his family.
Robert graduated from Broken Arrow High School. Afterwards, he joined the United States Army in 1970. He served overseas in Korea, then was honorably discharged in 1973. Robert quickly established a reputation as a man of reliability and skill. His professional journey began as a truck driver. He also worked for Coweta Public Schools. He later joined the team at Ditch Witch, where he devoted many years serving as a mechanic then transferred to driving a truck, hauling their heavy equipment. He enjoyed truck driving and the 18-wheeler always felt like home to him. In his older years, he delivered newspapers to the community as a paper route driver for Tulsa World.
Robert was an enthusiastic outdoorsman in his younger days, often found hunting and sharing his love for nature with his nephews. As the years progressed, he exchanged his hunting adventures for the golf course, where his outdoor enjoyment continued in a different form as he found a new love for golf.
As a stern but dependable father, Robert's strength was the backbone of his family, and they knew they could always count on him to be there in times of need. A man of measured words, Robert was known for his wisdom; when he spoke, people listened. He shared his life's journey with his beloved wife, the late Bonnie Sue (Lantroop) Pulliam. The two were married on August 22, 1980, in Wagoner, Oklahoma. Bonnie preceded him in death, along with his parents, Lillian Pearl (Cundiff) and Thomas Leroy Pulliam, his son-in law, Zackery Leaf, his brother-in laws, Floyd Isley, and Charles McElroy.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his children, Athena Olden, Bobbie Leaf, Shaunda Kamin, and son, James Wood; his grandchildren, Diela Olden, Christian Olden, Tyra Olden, Kaylie Voss, Ezra Olden, Lillian Leaf, Alisa Bond, and Derek Bond; and his adored great-grandchildren, Franklin Abel, Landon Kuder, Angelina Kuder, Rhiannyn Forler, and Madeline Lindbow. He will also be deeply missed by his siblings, Anna May Isley, Barbara Sue McElroy, Mary Lee Chesser along with her husband Wayne, and brother Thomas Audley Pulliam and wife Jesse, in addition to nephews, nieces, and other relatives.
His presence will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing this remarkable man.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at the First Christian Church in Coweta. Robert will be laid to rest with Military Honors at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK.
