Robert Lee "Bob" Doherty, Jr.

Robert Lee Doherty, Jr., age 76, of Coweta, OK was born on January 16, 1943 in Stilwell, OK to Robert Lee Doherty, Sr. and Ruby (Bean) Tillery and passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2019 in Tulsa, OK. Bob proudly served in the United States Army as a Green Beret Paratrooper in Special Forces serving in Vietnam. He was awarded many medals including a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. He retired as a Major after 23 years. Bob loved his wife, his animals and gardening and became an excellent woodworker and enjoyed restoring furniture. He was a huge OU fan and loved watching them on TV. Teasing family and friends was his way of showing you he loved you. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Marylin (Worth) Doherty of Coweta, OK; his sister, Debbie Wilson of Tulsa, OK; his brother, Ricky Doherty of Stilwell, OK; along with his Worth brothers, sisters, in-laws, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews of who all loved and adored him. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Carol Sue Doherty-Reed. Viewing will be from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Brown Family Funeral Home. Services celebrating Bob's life will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Brown Family Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, OK with Darryl Worth officiating and Robert Card assisting. Burial with full military honors will follow in Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK. Pallbearers are Ian Soergel, David Mugg, Bobby Worth, Rick Worth, Ben Worth, Phil Card, Kirk Card and Tom Schneider. Honorary Pallbearers are Ken Worth, Steve Worth and Rodney Garrett. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Bob to the Animal Rescue Foundation of Tulsa or the Humane Society of Tulsa.
