Rita M. Vaughn, age 71, of Coweta passed from this life on Saturday, January 5, 2008 at Forrest Hills Nursing Center. Rita was born on September 30, 1936 in Waukegan, Illinois to Edward and Cordilla (Schnasne) Sears. She received her education in the Waukegan, Illinois school system. Rita and James Laurence Vaughn were united in marriage on December 19, 1969 in Waukegan, Illinois. She came to the Coweta area from West Pittsburgh, California on April 1, 1980. Rita worked in the cafeteria for Coweta Public Schools for five years. She was also a homemaker. Her hobbies included miniatures, reading, and puzzles. She also enjoyed being with her grandchildren. Rita is survived by her husband of 38 years, Larry, of the home; two sons, Larry Shorman of New Braunfels, Texas and Kirk Davidson of Haskell, Oklahoma; three daughters, Jackie Quintero of Clovis, California, Laurie Spear of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Jennifer Humphries of Coweta, Oklahoma; three brothers, Charles Sears and Robert (Sonny) Sears, both of Mesa, Arizona, and William Dale Sears of North Chicago, Illinois; two sisters, Diane Mitchell of Waukegan, Illinois and Nancy Moxey of North Chicago, Illinois; sixteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Janet. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 9. 2008 at Wright Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Jones of First Baptist Church officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements and services are under the direction of Wright Funeral Home.
