Richard S. Jones

Richard S. Jones, age 74, of Spavinaw, OK (formerly of Broken Arrow) passed away on Thursday evening, January 15, 2015 in Spavinaw, OK. He was born on August 21, 1940 to Elton S. and Verna Emily (Briggs) Jones in Pryor, OK. Richard was a graduate of Pryor Creek High School. He and Juanita A. "Jan" Brooks were married on July 21, 1962 in Wagoner, OK and she preceded him in death on November 4, 1995. Richard was a welder for most of his life until he retired in 1997. He enjoyed tinkering, fishing, hunting and going to garage sales and flea markets. Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita A. "Jan" Jones and his parents, Elton S. and Verna Emily Jones. Richard is survived by 4 sons, Randy S. Jones of Broken Arrow, OK, Bryan Keith Jones, Christopher Kevin Jones of Spavinaw, OK and Richard Bryan of Muldrow, OK; 2 sisters, Shirley Richardson of Peggs, OK and Carol Potts of Coweta, OK; 2 brothers, Thomas Vernon Jones of California and Terry Jones of Oologah, OK; 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. Viewing will be from 9 AM - 8 PM on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at the funeral home with the family being present from 6 - 8 PM. Funeral services celebrating Richard's life will be at 10 AM on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Wright-Brown Family Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, OK with Pastor Len Reimer officiating. Burial will follow in Bryan Chapel Cemetery in Boatman, OK. Pallbearers are Ricky Jones, Ryan Jones, Eddie Herndon, Darrel Brooks, Richard Bryan and Tyler Jones.
