Raymond Wheeler

Raymond Douglas Wheeler, age 70, of Broken Arrow, OK passed away Sunday evening, March 3, 2013 at a hospital in Tulsa, OK. Raymond was born on April 4, 1942 in Porter, OK and was the son of James Roscoe and Ora Mae (Moreland) Wheeler. Raymond was a graduate of Coweta High School. Raymond married Shirley A. Chance on April 21, 1961 in Broken Arrow, OK and they were married 45 years until she preceded him in death on December 27, 2006. He then married Ilene Ross on October 8, 2009 in Eureka Springs, AR. Raymond owned and operated Hale Trailer Sales in Tulsa, OK for over 20 years. Raymond enjoyed riding horses, gardening and camping. Raymond will be missed as a loving husband, father, papa, brother, uncle and friend. Raymond is lovingly survived by his wife, Ilene Wheeler of the home; his son, Brett Wheeler of Oklahoma City, OK; his daughter, Kristi Hughes of Coweta, OK; 3 brothers, Harlan Wheeler and wife, Cindy, of Coweta, OK, Carl Wheeler and wife, Iva, of Pryor, OK and Owen Wheeler and wife, Woody, of Colorado Springs, CO; 6 sisters, Lola Jackson and husband, Sonny, of Coweta, OK, Sue Hembree and husband, Sonny, of Haskell, OK, Verna Young and husband, Fred, of Tulsa, OK, Wilma Beller and husband, Johnny, Kiefer, OK, Maxine Merrill of Tulsa, OK and Neoma Marshall of Eugene, OR; 2 grandchildren, Megan Hughes and Becket Cannon; 3 step-children, Paul Brown, Chris Brown and David Brown; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Wheeler, his parents, James Roscoe and Ora Mae Wheeler, 1 sister, Anna Mae Kirkland and 2 brothers, James Wheeler and JD Wheeler. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Friday evening, March 8, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral services for Raymond are scheduled for 10:00 AM Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the Church of God of Prophecy, 123 W. Sycamore St., Coweta, OK, 74429. Pastor Nick Stone will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Vernon Cemetery in Coweta. Pallbearers are Lonnie Orman, Jay Potter, J.R. Wheeler, Brian Hughes, Anthony Hammock and Dale Merrill. Honorary Pallbearers are Brandon Joiner, Zane Smith, David Brown, Paul Brown, Brian Joiner, Lee Kennedy, Brian Wheeler, Keith Beller and Randy Wheeler.
