Paula Ruth Hamby

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Paula Ruth Hamby (Carroll), age 75, of Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Paula has gone to be with our Lord and Savior, leaving this world August 26, 2024.

Paula was born on May 31,1949, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Peggy Anne Carroll (Thornton) and William Filo Carroll. Paula grew up in Tulsa, OK, graduating from East Central High School. Her favorite pastimes were cooking, shopping, listening to music, and trivia along with spending time with her family and friends.

Paula retired from the Cherokee Nation in 2022, where she worked through five Principal Chiefs administrations: excelling in her career, serving her tribe, and creating lasting friendships with those around her.

She was preceded in death by her father, William Filo Carroll of Murphy NC, May 31, 2008, mother, Peggy Anne Carroll of Tulsa, OK, December 24, 2018, brother, William Leon Carroll, February 27, 1974, brother, Timothy Filo Carroll of Tulsa, OK, November 12, 2016, and her daughter, Amy Ruth Jones of Tulsa OK, March 18, 2024.

She is survived by her daughters, Kimberly Crittenden Hunt, Kerry Crittenden Miller, Kacy Crittenden Ellsworth, and Aubree Hamby; her grandchildren, Bobbi Ellsworth, Austin Crittenden, Madison Simmons, Sadie Ellsworth Kendall, Malloree Hamby, Kayla Jones, and Kinlee Jones; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.

Paula will be forever remembered as a woman of faith, a kind and loving daughter, sister, mother, and friend.

A memorial service celebrating Paula’s life will be at 3:00 PM on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, OK.
