Paul S. Jernigan

Paul S. Jernigan, age 67, of Coweta was called to Heaven Thursday, June 20, 2013, from his home in Coweta. Paul was born May 27, 1946, to Neuman and Willard Jernigan. He lived most of his life in Oklahoma, but also lived in Kansas, Tennessee and Kentucky while serving in the ministry. Paul was in the United States Army Reserves. He and Shelia Duffey were married on October 15, 1965 in Broken Arrow, OK. He was a Bishop in The Church of God and served as evangelist, pastor, overseer and many other positions in the church. Paul was not only a well-respected minister, but was a great husband, father and grandfather. His life in the ministry took him throughout the U.S. as well as overseas. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Neuman and Willard Jernigan and one baby sister. He is survived by his wife, Shelia Jernigan of the home; daughters, Rhonda and husband, Bret Miller of Broken Arrow and Brenda and husband, Doug Flanary of Wagoner; one son, Michael and wife, Amy Jernigan of Trumann, AR; brother, James Jernigan of Broken Arrow; and sister, Betty and husband, Leon Schneider of Broken Arrow. Paul is also survived by eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He also leaves behind many friends and family. Although he will be missed for now, we long for the day to once again be reunited with him. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Monday, June 24, 2013 at the Church of God of Prophecy in Coweta. Burial will follow in Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow. Visitation will be Sunday, June 23, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Church of God of Prophecy in Coweta. Pallbearers are Lake Flanary, Charles Morey, John Talley, Hal Stewart, George Flanary and John Drake. Honorary Pallbearers are Justin Miller, Tyler Miller, Carson Flanary and Melvin McGriff.
