Opal Burress

Opal M. Burress of Coweta, age 93, passed away Wednesday morning, August 14, 2013 at Coweta Manor Nursing Home in Coweta, OK. Opal was born on October 29, 1919 in Fender, AR and was the daughter of Roy and Parlee (Stout) Winton. Opal graduated from Coweta High School in 1938. Opal and Floyd D. Burress were united in marriage on April 8, 1939 and he preceded her in death. Opal was an Avon salesperson for 44+ years. She was also a homemaker for most of her life. Opal was a member of the First Christian Church of Coweta. She enjoyed Avon, TOPS, Circle-a-Word puzzle books, watching Wheel of Fortune, and quilting. Opal is survived by her son, Doyle Burress of Coweta, OK; her daughter, Ruth Burress of Coweta, OK; one brother, Leonard Winton of CA; two sisters, Wanda Turner of Collinsville, OK and Billie Ruth McCully of Jones, OK; four grandchildren, Mark McManus, Danny McManus, Mikel Burress and Christina Barry; six great grandchildren, Tasha Cavaness, McCray McManus, Krisdean Newton, Dillon McManus, Michael Roy Barry and Jacob Daniel Barry; and one great-great grandchild, Breanna Cavaness. Opal was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, James Wayne Burress, two brothers and one sister. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday evening, August 15, 2013 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 am Friday, August 16, 2013 at the First Christian Church in Coweta, OK with Pastor Tim Dotson officiating and Pastor Allen Swinson assisting. Private committal will be at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta. Pallbearers are Mark Davidson, Herman Newman, Tony Holmes, Michael Denton, Bruce Hamilton and Gary Amos. Honorary pallbearers are Errol Curlee, Gary Douglas, Steve Garman and Lee Shieldnight. The family of Opal M. Burress entrusted her care and services to Wright-Brown Family Funeral Home, 210 S.
