Onis Holmes

Onis Holmes, age 86, of Haskell, OK (formerly of Holland, IN) passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, April 3, 2018 at his home in Haskell, OK. Onis was born on October 31, 1931 in Broken Arrow, OK to Bill and Hazel (Bailey) Holmes. He married the love of his life, Velma Lee Holmes on April 1, 1950 in Coweta, OK. Onis owned and operated Holmes Drilling of Holland, IN. Onis was preceded in death by his wife, Velma, his parents, Bill and Hazel Holmes, an infant son, Onis Keith, 1 sister, Daisy Hewitt, 1 brother, Buck Holmes and a great grandson, Jackson Justus Pease. Onis is survived by 1 daughter, Vickie Thacker and husband Thomas of Holland, IN; 1 son, Stanley Holmes of Holland, IN; 1 sister, Margie Satterfield and husband Norman; 4 brothers, Billy Holmes and wife Imogene, Harvey Holmes and wife Pam, Dennis Holmes and wife Linda and Raymond Holmes and wife Karen; 1 sister-in-law, Joyce Holmes; 6 grandchildren, Lisa Splawn and husband Chad, Grant Holmes and wife Shannon, Rebecca Allen and husband Michael, Christina Hulsman and husband Ted, Sarah Leinenbach and husband Derek and Cassandra Pease and husband Bradley; 11 great grandchildren, Madison, Shaylin, Kru, Kade, Keaton, Kamryn, Kelsey, Kaiser, Corde, Lane and Tate; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Viewing will be from 12-8 PM on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Wright-Brown Family Funeral Home with the family present from 6-8 PM. Services celebrating the life of Onis will be at 11 AM on Friday, April 6, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Coweta, OK with Tony Holmes officiating.
