On July 24, 1922 a son was born to Henry and Lena Mae Barnes in Coweta, Oklahoma. They named him Oncey. He was the seventh of ten children born to this union. Preceding him in death were his parents and nine siblings, Columbus, Cleveland, Alvester (Jackie Boo), Henrietta, Fannie Mae, Annie Bell, and Rosie. Born and raised in Coweta, Oncey met and married Mildred Waldron and to that union a son was born, Sylvester (Scooter). Later on, he met and married Velma Burrough in 1946. To this union six children were born. Preceding him in death was his wife and eldest son, Richard Barnes, Sr. of Tulsa. Remaining children: Wanda (Maurice) Atkins of Coweta, Samuel (Shela) Barnes, Sr. of Tulsa, Oncey Leon Barnes, Sr. of Oklahoma City, Gary (Shannon) Barnes of Boynton, and Donetta (Courtney) Fulsom of Coweta. At an early age, he learned to be a hard working young man. Like many during that time, he received little education, if any. He retired from the Tulsa Country Club in 1988 after 35 years of service. During his life, he attended Jackson Grove and Mt. Rose Baptist Church. In his spare time, Oncey loved to hunt, fish, and garden. Grandchildren: Dowanna (Keith) Wright, Denise (Hassan) Jones of New York, Duncan Barnes, Stacie (Murray) Lucero, Tracie Atkins of Las Vegas, Marlo (Lamont) Davis, Richard Barnes, Jr., Vincent Barnes, Samuel Barnes, Jr., Delisa Atkins, Oncey L.
