Novice Kay (Bowles) Williams, 77, passed away on August 14th, 2018 at Saint John Medical Center in Tulsa, OK. Celebration of her life will take place on Tuesday, September 4th, 11:00 a.m. at Claremore First United Methodist Church, located at 1615 OK-88. Kay was born November 24, 1940 in Stonewall, Oklahoma to Mary Lois Bowles and Rev. Lovell Lee "L.L." Bowles. Nicknamed "Nokie" early in life by younger brother Paul, she was referred to by many later in life as "Mama Kay" by friends, grandchildren, and great-
grandchildren. She graduated from Frederick High School in 1958 and graduated from Northeastern State University in 1985. She was married to Byron E. Williams Jr. (born 1937 - 2005) and she worked as an accountant/office administrator for several companies throughout the years and retired from a position with the Cherokee Nation Housing Authority. Kay was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, volunteer docent for the Will Rogers Memorial, and proud citizen of the Chickasaw Nation. She enjoyed frequent travel within the US and overseas and deeply cherished her time spent with family and friends. Kay was a loving mother and grandmother that took life events in stride and was a comforting positive influence to many. Kay is survived by her children, Mary Lee Luther and husband Steve of Broken Arrow, OK and Byron Williams and wife Sherrie of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren Erica Hills and husband James stationed in Stuttgart, Germany and Alek Williams and wife Nicandra of Colorado Springs, CO; and great-grandchildren Alyanna, Adalae, Atlas, Anthony and Ethan. She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers Pete Bowles and Reverend Dr. Paul Bowles. Her final resting place will be next to her mother and father in Woodberry Forest Cemetery in Madill, OK.
