Norsa Lou Smith, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, entered into the Gates of Heaven on Wednesday morning, June 28, 2023, at the Haskell Care Center in Haskell, OK at the age of 91 years. She was born on May 10, 1932, in Bixby, OK to Fred Dowl and Rosie Lee (Gragg) Millsap. Norsa lived a life filled with love, joy, and the simple pleasures that brought her happiness.
Norsa attended Bixby Public Schools and spent her life as a devoted homemaker, caring for her family with an unwavering dedication. She married the love of her life, Martin Walter Smith, on August 7, 1949, and together they built a beautiful life and family. Norsa had a passion for gardening and enjoyed spending time at the casino. She also held fond memories of working on a strawberry farm during her youth, developing a lifelong love for strawberries. She also had a sweet tooth, with Hershey bars being her favorite treat.
Norsa was a resident of Boynton, OK since 1971. Her door was always open, and she welcomed everyone with a warm smile and open arms.
Norsa is survived by her five children, Marvin Dale Smith and wife Ruby of Boynton, OK, Cindy Wheeler of Coweta, OK, Gary Smith and wife Sue of Jackson, NE, Leslie Smith of Haskell, OK, and Cheryl Rene Adair and husband Tony of Siloam Springs, AR. She was a proud grandmother to 31 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, and 28 great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sister, Norma Hurst of Earlton, KS, her sister-in-law, Mary Millsap of Catoosa, OK, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Walter Smith, her parents, Fred Dowl and Rosie Lee Millsap, her son, James Stacy Smith, her brothers, Frederick Millsap, Eugene Millsap, and Bill Millsap, and her son-in-law, Harlan Wheeler.
A memorial service celebrating Norsa's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, OK, with Rev. Briarsen Burke of Choice Hospice officiating.
