February 7, 2012 Nila Mae Sperry, 84, passed away February 4, 2012 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She was born on August 14, 1927 in Donovan, Missouri to Roland and Neva (Arnold) Johnston. In 1944, she was crowned the "Broken Arrow Football Queen." Nila worked as a secretary and married Billy Bob Sperry on February 18, 1949 at the First Baptist Church in Broken Arrow. She loved antiquing, especially for mirrors, and caring for her husband and family. Nila was preceded in death by her parents, Roland and Neva Johnston; and brothers, Bill Johnston and Elmo Johnston. She is survived by her husband, Billy Bob Sperry; son Jack Sperry and wife Donna; daughter, Judy Wingate and husband, Kirt; 3 grandsons, Paul Sperry, Mark Sperry, and Gibb Wingate; 5 great grandchildren, Tyler Sperry, Emily Sperry, Olivia Sperry, Ella Sperry and James Sperry; and a host of nieces , nephews, other family members and friends.
