Nicholas Brian "Nick" Read

Nicholas Brian "Nick" Read, age 37, resident of Coweta passed away on Friday, May 4, 2018 at his home in Coweta, OK. Nick was born on July 10, 1980 in Tulsa, OK and was the son of Timothy Dean and Datha L. (Frazier) Read. He was a 1999 graduate of Porter High School. Nick worked as a Diesel Mechanic. He enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycles, muscle cars, fireworks and being outdoors. Nick joined the Army National Guard in 2005 and immediately was employed as a dual status federal technician working on military equipment and helping units stay mission-ready for natural disasters by inspecting and repairing equipment as a member of UTES unit inspecting team. In 2008, Nick was hand selected along with a few other National Guard members to deploy to Iraq and do special assignments working out of the embassy in Baghdad. His duties included the transportation and security of special agents and VIP's including commanding US General Petraeus to different locations in Iraq. He remained in the military until the fulfillment of his contract when he was honorably discharged in 2011. His two children were his life and he loved spending his time with them. Nick is survived by his parents, Tim and Datha Read of Coweta, OK; 2 children, Ivy Mae Read and Maddox Ethan Read; 1 sister, Leslie Ann Helton and husband, Cole of Coweta, OK; his grandparents, Mary Read of Broken Arrow, OK, James Anthony Read of Coweta, OK and Tommy and Joleta Frazier of Big Cabin, OK; 1 nephew, Bryson Helton; 1 niece, Grace Helton; and other relatives and friends. Nick's Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 18, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Coweta, OK.
