Nelda Mae Watson

Nelda Mae Watson, age 80, resident of Coweta went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, September 11, 2020 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Nelda was born on March 18, 1940 and was the daughter of John Marion and Bertha Eunice (Beeves) Watson.

Nelda was a 1958 graduate of Bristow High School in Bristow, Oklahoma.  She then went on to attain her Nursing Degree from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College in Miami, Oklahoma.  In 1960, Nelda began her career as a Licensed Practical Nurse and was a loyal employee in the medical field for 44 years.  She dedicated the last several years of her career to Visiting Nurses Association of Tulsa until she retired in 2004.  Nelda was devoted not only to caring for her patients but also lifting up their sprits.  She was a member of Turley Assembly of God in Turley.  She enjoyed crocheting, going to singing conventions, and reading romance novels about doctors and nurses.  Nelda took care of everyone and was the caregiver of the family.  She dearly loved her nieces and nephews and she enjoyed spoiling them.  Nelda also loved her dog, Zach and was considered her child.  She will be remembered as a loving, special person who made a difference in so many people’s lives through her love of nursing.

Nelda is survived by her sister, Rita L. Watson-Baker; her nieces and nephews, Charles Matlock, Jr. (Andrea), John Matlock (Debbie), Stephen Matlock (Sheila), Cynthia Caho (Chuck), Stewart Baker, II (Erica), Marion Baker-Campeau, and Rita M. Baker-Clemmons (Damon); 18 great nieces and nephews; 1 great-great nephew, Alexander Herndon; her dog, Zach; and numerous cousins and friends.

Nelda was preceded in death by her parents, John Marion and Bertha Eunice Watson; her brother, John Emmett Watson; her sister, Naomia Faye Watson-Matlock; and her nephew, Caleb Lee Baker.

Viewing will be from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at Brown Funeral Home and from 11:00 AM to 12:45 PM on Friday, September 18, 2020 at Grace Assembly of God.  The service celebrating Nelda’s life will began at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 18, 2020 at Grace Assembly of God, 12120 E. Skelly Drive, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74128.  Pastor Charles H. Matlock, Sr. will officiate the service.  Nelda will be laid to rest at Ethel Reece Cemetery in Barnsdall, Oklahoma.

Pallbearers are Chuck Caho, Stewart John Campeau, Charles Matlock, Jr., Stephen Matlock, John Matlock, and Damon Clemmons.
