Nannie Keel

Nannie Lee Keel, age 93, longtime resident of Broken Arrow went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday morning, August 18, 2010 at Broken Arrow Nursing Home with her family at her bedside. She was born on December 14, 1916 in Inola, OK to the late Charles Sidney and Minnie Lee (Ritchie) Ward. Nannie was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, and grandmother to her family. She received her education at Ward School near her childhood home close to the Verdigris River in Wagoner County. Nannie and Joe Keel were married on March 9, 1935 in Broken Arrow, OK and they were married for 64 years until he preceded her in death on July 31, 1999. She was a homemaker for most of her life. She was a member of the Lone Star Baptist Church in Coweta, OK. Her hobbies included crocheting, sewing, cooking and gardening. She will be dearly missed by all of her family. Nannie is lovingly survived by one daughter, Wilma Jean Harrison of Broken Arrow, OK; four sons, Harold Keel and wife, Mildred, of Coweta, OK, Charles Keel and wife, Sandra, of Broken Arrow, OK, Dwain Keel and wife, Cindy, of Porter, OK, and Dwight Keel and wife, Loretta, of Broken Arrow, OK; 13 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Nannie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, step-mother, Sarah Ward, three sisters, Edna Stevenson, Viola Berry and Maude Ward, three brothers, James Ward, Charles Vernon Ward and William Fred Ward, and infant "Baby Ward." Funeral services for Nannie will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 23, 2010 at Lone Star Baptist Church, 10610 S. 353rd E. Ave., Coweta, OK. Rev. Sam Davis will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow, OK. Family and friends may view the obituary and send condolences to Nannie's family online @ www.wrightfh.net.
