Nancy Majors’ life changed in the third grade, even if she didn’t realize it for a while. Her brother Dub made friends with a fourth-grade boy named George Overall, who started hanging around the Majors’ home a lot in the early 1950s.
By sixth grade, George considered Nancy his girlfriend. She may not have been so quick to call George her boyfriend, but the pair became all but inseparable. And in 1961, George came home on leave from the Navy to marry her.
Nancy Charlene Overall died Thursday, December 21, 2023, at age 81, after being married for 62 years, raising two children, and having five grandchildren.
She loved her family more than anything, except Jesus. She loved Him the most.
Nancy was born February 28, 1942, in Seminole, Oklahoma, but she grew up mostly in Ponca City, where she graduated from high school in 1960. She worked at Conoco for many years and raised her children in Ponca City’s First Assembly of God, where she also worked for the church school for several years.
She moved to Owasso in the early 2000s to be closer to her children and grandchildren. And she attended Owasso First Assembly Church.
Services will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at the Brown Funeral Home, 210 S. Broadway, Coweta, Oklahoma.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Wilburn, and Tessie Nell Majors; an infant brother, Charles; her brother W.E. “Dub” Majors and sister-in-law Sandy Majors.
She is survived by her husband George; her daughter Tonya Ward and son-in-law Scott; son Michael Overall and daughter-in-law Ashley; and grandchildren Jared Ward, Stephanie Smith, Heather Freeman, Gavin Overall and Thatcher Overall. She is also survived by brothers Tony Majors and Lee Majors, and three great-grandchildren.
They all loved her, and still love her, almost as much as she loved them.
