Myrtle Lee (Tyler) Hewitt, age 79, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2024, at OSU Tulsa from respiratory failure.
Myrtle Lee was born on December 2, 1944, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was a graduate of Coweta High School, class of 1963, and went on to marry the love of her life, Howard Hewitt, on June 17, 1963, in Miami, Oklahoma. Together, they built a beautiful family and shared fifty years of marriage. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ukie and Roy Tyler, her husband, Howard Hewitt, and her brothers, R.B. and Alvie Tyler.
Myrtle Lee is survived by her sister, Alma Fisher and husband James and her brother, Stanley Tyler. She is also survived by her four children, Terry Hewitt, Cyndi Hewitt, Jennifer Holden and husband Michael, and Angie Longmire, twelve grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
Myrtle Lee was a fantastic cook and stay at home mother who helped raise not only her own children but nieces, nephews, and grandchildren throughout the years. She spent summers at the ball fields and winters on hunting trips. She will be missed by many.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate Myrtle Lee’s life will be held on Monday, March 4, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, Oklahoma. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 3, 2024, from 2:00–6:00 PM with the family in attendance from 4:00–6:00 PM at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta, Oklahoma.
