Monica Michelle Cade

September 1, 1959 — August 26, 2023

Coweta

On September 1, 1959, a beautiful baby girl was born to Mary Catherine Smith and John Calvin Penny.  She was the middle child of three to Mary (Detra, Oscar) and one of thirty to J.C.  Always headstrong and took pride in caring for everyone, she encountered from her early childhood on.  The Smiths, Cades, Manns, Atkins, Davis, and Marshalls all hung together throughout their childhood.  She attended Coweta Public Schools while participating in Drama Class, talent shows, home economics, and won along with her close friends awards for their pottery sculptures.  She graduated with honors while also working in Sardees Kitchen.  From there she entered into the healthcare industry and worked as a CNA within a few nursing homes.  She then decided to pursue her passion of childcare where she became lead teacher in her beloved baby room.  She embraced all aspects within her profession and held many positions throughout her tenure in daycare.

At the age of twenty-one she gave birth to her first child (Deon) and with the help of her loving mother and siblings she took this responsibility on by herself.  Five years later she met her husband. To this union came two more children (Shawntae and Trai-shaun).  This brought them to a family of nine (Tamera, Shatara, Ricco, Shawnee, Dale, Andre).  While building a life of her own her siblings were doing the same with her by their sides.  Seven months after her first born her first niece (Laquisha) was born to Detra and Tommy.  Soon after her first two nephews were born (Drae and Tinele).  Which she helped raise as her own.  Then a few days prior to giving birth to Shawntae her brother Oscar and Charlene welcomed the first born (Dezarai) and soon followed with three more children to this union (Brittany, Tierani, Destiny).  To whom she took great pride in adding to her children.  She soon was known as everybody's favorite Auntie!

She then entered into her finest stage of her life which was grand motherhood and enjoyed pouring love and comfort into every meal she made them and every situation she guided them through.  She stepped in and did anything necessary to guarantee her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins had the best lives possible! She truly was an angel sent her to bless everything and anyone she touched with love, understanding, and compassion.

She was preceded in death by her mother (Mary) and father (J.C.), her grandparents (Louise and Oscar Smith and Amanda and John Calvin Sr. Penny), her father-in-law Winifred Cade, her brother-in-laws James Green and Loyd Younger, and her sister-in-laws Edith Payne and Elaine Shoats.

She leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memory her husband Shawn; children, Deon (Noelle), Shawntae, Trai-shaun (Denaisha), Tamara, Shatara, Ricco, Shawnee (Cheyenne), Dale, Andrea; siblings, Detra Younger, Oscar (Glenna); in-laws: Collatta Cade Bailey and Bill Bailey; sister-in-laws, Jean Washington, Monica Bailey, and Dee Cade; brother-in-laws, Verdell Shoats (Mary), Benny Burton (Wynona) and Don Payne (Jackie); grandchildren, Brandon, Felicia, Kirston, D' Raysha, Ja'bryan, Gabbi, Trenity, Serenity, Chrystian, Octavion, Kennedy, Trai-Shaun Jr., Zailynn, Saniyah, Lil Marcus, Xavion, Mikas, Kayden, KK, Bently, Memphis, Malia; best friends, Yolanda Cade, Karen Manns, Shirley Manns, Charlene Cates, and Claudette Cade, and an abundance of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
