Milford Curtis Green, known affectionately as Curtis, resident of Broken Arrow, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, January 22, 2025, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK at the age of 78. He was born on October 31, 1946, in Broken Bow, OK to Milford Edward and Ruby Vaudeen (Stephenson) Green.
Curtis dedicated a significant portion of his life to a fulfilling career at the Ford Glass Plant, where he worked for 30 years from 1974 until his retirement in 2004. He began his journey at the plant as a packer and cutter, eventually advancing to the roles of inspector and Lean Manufacturing Coach, demonstrating a remarkable work ethic and commitment to excellence throughout his tenure. Curtis also took on the role of chaplain for the Oklahoma Baptist Relief, extending support and care to those in need.
His education was rooted in his experience at Tulsa Central High School, where he laid the foundation for a life devoted to hard work.
On March 1, 1966, Curtis married the love of his life, Mary Kathryn Penix, in Claremore, OK. Their union blossomed into a partnership filled with love and companionship, and together they built a family that would carry forward their legacy.
Curtis was a member of Community Baptist Church in Coweta, Oklahoma. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, often immersed in the beauty of the outdoors. His passion for BMX racing led him to help establish many tracks in the Tulsa area, and in 2024, he was honored with an induction into the Oklahoma BMX Hall of Fame, a testament to his unwavering dedication to the sport. He also loved announcing at BMX races, sharing his enthusiasm and encouraging the next generation of racers.
Curtis is survived by his sons, Curtis Green and wife Tracy of Broken Arrow, OK, and Robert Green and wife Mandy of Broken Arrow, OK; five grandchildren, Haley Carlile and husband Matthew, Hannah Green, Holly Green, Gavin Green, and Olivia Green; his sisters, Phyllis Thompson of Wagoner, OK, Jeanette Culver of Broken Arrow, OK, and Judy Green of Tulsa, OK; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Kathryn Green; his parents, Milford Edward and Ruby Vaudeen Green; and his brother, Sherrill Green.
His memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Services celebrating the life of Curtis will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Community Baptist Church in Coweta, OK, with Pastor Adam Mask officiating. A private entombment will be in Floral Haven Memorial Gardens Heritage Mausoleum in Broken Arrow, OK.
