Maurice Guthrie

Maurice Oliver Guthrie, age 75, of Tulsa, OK (formerly of Coweta, OK) passed away on Friday morning, March 25, 2011 at SouthCrest Hospital in Tulsa, OK. He was born on December 6, 1935 in Coweta, OK to Morris Oliver and Levella Lee (Cole) Guthrie. Maurice was born and raised in Coweta the early years of his life and graduated from Coweta High School in 1955. After graduating high school, he moved to the Bixby and Tulsa area. Maurice served in the Army National Guard. He worked at Ramsey Chevrolet in Bixby, OK for more than 20 years until he retired in 2001. Maurice enjoyed collecting coins, canning, gardening and spending time with his family. Maurice is survived by two brothers, Henry Guthrie of Coweta, OK and Carl Guthrie and his wife, Jane, of Manheim, PA; one sister, Virginia King of Augusta, KS; numerous nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; several cousins; and very good friends, David and Fran Hope. Maurice was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Sylvia Finney and Pat Sarty and one brother, Bobby Gene Peoples. Funeral Services for Maurice will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Wright Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ben Ewing officiating. Burial will follow at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK.
