Services celebrating the life of Mary Lou Sparks will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at the Coweta Church of God of Prophecy in Coweta, OK with Pastor Larry Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK. Viewing will be from 12:00 - 8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Brown Family Funeral Home. Mary Lou Sparks, age 82, resident of Coweta was born on September 28, 1935 to Arthur W. and Syble F. (Isaacs) Jones in Ada, OK. Mary Lou passed away on Sunday morning, August 5, 2018 at her home in Coweta, OK. Mary Lou and Lonnie R. Sparks were married on July 19, 1957. Mary Lou was a graduate of Vanoss High School in 1953. She was a graduate of Draughon's Business College in Oklahoma City with a degree in business. Mary Lou worked as a secretary at the DHS Office in Ada. After marrying Lonnie, they moved to Modesto, CA and later moved to Sacramento, CA where she was a stay at home mom. They moved to Coweta, OK in June of 1968, where she was a stay at home mom, babysitter and ran a sewing business. She later went to work for Bill Trower Development and his Koehring equipment dealership. After that she worked 26 years for the City of Coweta before retiring. Mary Lou was a member of the Coweta Church of God of Prophecy. Her hobbies included sewing, crafts, reading and family activities. She was active in the Children's Ministry for over 25 years. She was a Cub Scout leader and an active volunteer in church and community activities. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur W. and Syble F. Jones, her sister, Deanna Underwood and her husband Gene, her brother, Lyndell Farrell Jones and wife Evelyn Marene, 1 niece, Linda Denise Jones, 2 nephews, Gregory Farrell Jones and Tony Johnson and 1 daughter-in-law, Janna Sparks. Mary Lou is survived by her husband, Lonnie R. Sparks; 2 sons, Brian Duane Sparks and Kevin Wayne Sparks; and numerous grandkids, great grandkids, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
