Mary Ann Morton, a cherished matriarch and lifelong Coweta resident, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday morning, October 18, 2024, at Clarehouse in Tulsa, OK. She was born on August 14, 1933, in Coweta, OK. Mary Ann's life was a testament to her unwavering spirit and the love she cultivated throughout her 91 years.
Mary Ann's early years were spent in the Clearfield district of Wagoner County, where she was born to parents R.G. and Ruth McIntosh. She attended Coweta High School, graduating in 1951 as the senior class queen, a testament to her charm and grace. On May 18, 1951, she married Thomas Allen Morton, and together they raised three sons, Robert, Blane, and Stanley, who were the pride and joy of her life.
A woman of many talents, Mary Ann was an entrepreneur and a hard worker. She owned and operated Mary Ann's Cafe from 1960 to 1966, creating a warm and welcoming space for the community. Her career also included valuable contributions to Vernon Cotton Company, Santa Fe Meat Packaging Company, and Port Dunkin Grain Elevator. Mary Ann's dedication was evident as she worked alongside her son Robbie at his business, Morton TV & Appliance, where she retired in 2017 at the age of 83 after 35 years of service.
Mary Ann's interests and hobbies were as diverse as her career. She had a passion for singing and often lent her beautiful voice to special events such as funerals and weddings. Her love for gardening and flowers was evident in the vibrant blooms that surrounded her home. Mary Ann remained active with her high school classmates, participating in class reunions and monthly luncheons, cherishing the lifelong friendships she had nurtured.
Family was the cornerstone of Mary Ann's world. She is survived by her three sons, Robert Morton and wife Barbara, Blane Morton and wife Kimberly, and Stanley Morton and wife Towana, all of Coweta, OK. Her legacy continues through her seven grandchildren, Ryan Morton and wife Magy of Frisco, TX, Neil Morton of Coweta, OK, Amy Bors and husband Mark of Jenks, OK, Brandon Morton and wife Katrina of Coweta, OK, Kade Morton of Coweta, OK, Chance Morton and wife Jessica of Coweta, OK, and Kayla Morton of Burleson, TX, as well as her ten great-grandchildren, Jacob, Lillian, Hailey, Violet, Summer, Sydney, Cruz, Caroline, Austin, and Cooper, and one great-great-grandchild, Denver. She also leaves behind her brother, Charles McIntosh and wife Wanda of Coweta, OK, along with many other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, R.G. and Ruth McIntosh, her brother, Jerry McIntosh, and her nephew, Brett McIntosh.
Mary Ann's warmth, generosity, and loving spirit will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Visitation for Mary Ann will be held from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Monday, October 28, 2024, at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta, OK, with the family present to receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Services celebrating her life will take place at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Coweta, OK, with Rev. Ed Rutherford officiating. Mary Ann will be laid to rest at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK.
