Mary Kathleen Cravens, age 85, left for her eternal home on Thursday, October 19, 2023, around daybreak at her home, peacefully in her sleep, next to her husband of almost 68 years, Marvin Cravens.
She came into the world with a cry loud enough to wake her brother, Kenneth Chapman on October 16, 1938, and was welcomed by her proud parents, Lawrence and Gladys Chapman in Paris, TN.
Kathleen was a gifted artist in any creative endeavor she pursued, from exquisite paintings, to crocheting, there wasn't a creative medium she failed to excel at. She was an accomplished pianist and could carry the alto line on any song she heard, from gospel, to bluegrass, to county finer than anyone in a 20-county radius from her Henry County roots.
Kathleen and Marvin have been longtime residents of Coweta since the 1970's. Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Gladys Chapman, her brother, Larry Chapman, and many amazing in-law family members on the Cravens side. She is survived by her husband, Marvin Cravens, her son, Anthony Cravens and wife Linda, her daughter, Jennifer Cravens, three granddaughters, Rebekah, Kaitlyn, and Melissa, her brothers, Ken Chapman and Bob Chapman, and four great granddaughters.
She was loved beyond measure by her family and friends, especially the Miller Family these last years. Heaven's gain is truly a loss for us left behind.
A memorial service celebrating Kathleen's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Marvin and Kathleen's residence.
