Martha Mae Zachary (“GramZ”), age 88, resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma entered into the Gates of Heaven on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at Trinity Woods in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born on August 1, 1935, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Carl Madison and Carrye Fern (Garber) Elmore. Martha's journey through life was marked by her unwavering commitment to her family, her faith, and her passion for the simple joys that each day brought.
Martha's early years were spent in the vibrant surroundings of Tulsa, where she attended Will Rogers High School, graduating in the class of 1953. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to the University of Tulsa, where she earned an associate degree. While at the University of Tulsa, Martha was active in the Tri-Delta sorority. She laid the foundation for her future endeavors. Martha's academic achievements were a testament to her diligence and her belief in the power of education.
Martha's life was forever changed when she married her soulmate, Roy Curtis Zachary, on December 29, 1956, at White City Baptist Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Roy and Martha held their wedding reception at the Tri-Delta house on the University of Tulsa campus. Their union was a true partnership that flourished over 67 years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and the blessing of family on the foundation of Jesus Christ their Lord and
Savior.
Martha's role as a devoted homemaker was complemented by her work as a secretary and receptionist. Her coworkers and employers respected her not only for her skills but also for her character and her ability to make everyone feel valued.
Her relationship and walk with the Lord was the cornerstone of Martha's world. She is survived by her beloved husband, Roy Curtis Zachary, and their children: Curt Zachary and wife Debbie, Doug Zachary and wife Annie, Paul Zachary and wife Pam, and daughter Malinda Hutchinson and husband Robert. Martha's legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren, who will carry forward the values and love she instilled in them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl Madison and Carrye Fern (Garber) Elmore, along with her sister Karlene Chancellor.
Martha's interests reflected the depth of her character. A devout Christian, she found solace and strength in reading and studying her Bible, meditating on His word, prayer, and investing in the lives of others. Martha loved spending time with her husband, kids, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. GramZ, as she was known by her grandchildren, made sure she communicated love and attention to each of them. She made memories for them for a lifetime.
Visitation will be held from 1:30 to 4:30 PM on Friday, January 19, 2024, at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta, Oklahoma. A service to honor Martha's memory will take place at 11:30 AM on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Tulsa Bible Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She will be laid to rest at a private family interment at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, Oklahoma.
