Marlene Joyce Slape

Marlene Joyce Slape, age 82, resident of Coweta, OK went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Nea Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro, AR. Marlene was born on July 20, 1936 in Reeseville, AL and was the daughter of Otto Houston and Lena Mae (Duwell) Gray. She married the love of her life, Orman Leroy Slape and they had four sons, Ricky, Thomas, Gary, and Robbie. Marlene and Leroy owned and operated Leroy's Barbeque for many years. She also cleaned new construction houses after Leroy build them and she was a cook at Coweta Manor Nursing Home, The Village Health Care Center, and retired in 2010 from Brookdale Assisted Living. She enjoyed playing bingo and working crossword puzzles. Marlene is survived by two sons, Gary Leroy Slape and wife Tammy of Tullahassee, OK and Robbie Joe Slape and wife Tammy of Coweta, OK; two sisters, Dorothy Lawrence of Blytheville, AR and Anna Treadway and husband James of Blytheville, AR; one brother, Donald Gray and wife Gloria of Covington, GA; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Marlene was preceded in death by her husband, Orman Leroy Slape; her parents, Otto Houston and Lena Mae Gray; two sons, Ricky Don Slape and Thomas Dewayne Slape; five sisters, LV, Geraldine, Flora, Alene, and Carolyn; and five brothers, Leon, Stuart, Billy, Charles, and Ronice. Viewing will be from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 and services celebrating Marlene's life will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Brown Family Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, OK with Rev. Lynn Moss officiating and Rev. Brody Morris assisting. Burial will follow in Haskell Cemetery in Haskell, OK. Pallbearers are her grandsons.
