Mark P. Lemons

January 1, 1918 — October 15, 2013

Mark Pershing Lemons, age 95, retired machinist and WW II Veteran joined his Heavenly Father on October 15, 2013. In death, he follows his wife, Naomi, who he married December 27, 1941 and with whom he shared 66 years of loving marriage. Mark was born to Sarah Pearle and John English Lemons in Oktaha, OK on September 13, 1918. He grew up and was educated in Oktaha and at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the Rome-Arno Campaign in Italy during the European Theater of WW II. Mark was proudly part of the forces resupplying fuel for General Patton's brigade during his relief effort of troops involved in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a life-time employee of H.B. Egan Mfg. Co. where he worked as a machinist and tool and die maker in Muskogee. Mark and his wife were members of the First United Methodist Church in Muskogee for 60 years. He enjoyed his family, bowling, oil painting, gardening and building birdhouses for his family. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by a family who loved and appreciated his kindness and quick smile. Mark was preceded in death by wife, Naomi; his parents John and Sarah Pearle Lemons; four brothers, Hubert Lemons, George Lemons, Herman Lemons and Paul Lemons; three sisters, Pricilla Collier, Sybil Barnes, Naomi O. Lemons. Mark is survived by three daughters and one son, Jean Ann Allen and husband, Bill, of Coweta, Linda Gilliam and husband, Ronnie of Ft. Gibson, Peggy Boothe and husband, Perry of Morrilton, AR and Mark Lemons, Jr. and wife, Dee, of Denton, Texas; grandchildren, Sandy Massey, Mike Phillips, Samantha French, Leslie Spicer, Greg Phillips, Mark Lemons, III, Benton Lemons; and thirteen-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be at 10:30 am Friday, October 18, 2013 at Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel in Muskogee, OK under the direction of Wright-Brown Family Funeral Home, Coweta, OK and officiated by Danny Gandara, Pastor of First Baptist Church of Fort Gibson, OK. Contributions to the American Cancer Society will be appreciated. Visitation will be Thursday, October 17, 2013 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the funeral home.
