Marji Ellen Cowles

Marji Ellen Cowles, age 75, lifelong Broken Arrow resident went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.  Marji was born on October 4, 1947 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma to John Willis and Freda Estel (Keel) Bates.  Marji attended Broken Arrow Schools where she was a 1965 graduate of Broken Arrow High School.  She worked in accounting department for Swagelok Oklahoma for 37 years.  Marji enjoyed cooking, family get togethers, but most of all her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her life and she loved spending time with them.

Marji is survived by her son, Christopher Cowles of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; her brother, Mark Bates of Coweta, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Caden Cowles and wife Cheyenne, Travis Cowles, and Tyler Cowles; two great grandchildren, Baylor Wade Cowles and Levi Bennett Cowles; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Marji was preceded in death by her parents, John Willis and Freda Estel Bates, her sister, Jodi Walker, her nephew, Heath Bates, and her niece, Brandi Walker.

Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta, Oklahoma.  Services celebrating Marji’s life will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at the Abundant Rain Church in Coweta, Oklahoma with Pastor Ron Spradlin officiating.  Marji will be laid to rest at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, Oklahoma.

Pallbearers are Caden Cowles, Travis Cowles, Tyler Cowles, Timothy Bates, Brock Berreth, and Jason Bates. Honorary Pallbearers are Baylor Wade Cowles, Levi Bennett Cowles, Cotton Headrick, Mike Headrick, Gary Keel, Tim Keel, Josh Headrick, and Daniel Tatum.
