Marilyn Sue Smith, age 72, resident of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma was born on February 1, 1950 in Kramer, Indiana to Darwin Lee and Helen Berneice (Mitton) Shamp. She went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday morning, February 3, 2022 at Cornerstone Hospital in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Marilyn graduated from Benton Central High School in Oxford, Indiana. She married the love of her life, Kenneth Paul Smith on February 17, 1973 in Montmorenci, Indiana. She attended the Woodland Hills Church of Christ in Tulsa and the Church of Christ in Coweta. Marilyn worked at State Farm Insurance Company as an auto representative for 38 years until she retired in 2007. She enjoyed bowling, camping, scrap booking, pampered chef parties, volunteering for the Broken Arrow band, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Kenneth Smith of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; her two children, Lori Bockmiller and her husband Dave of Fort Worth, Texas and Jason Smith of Pasadena, Texas; her four grandchildren, Grace Smith, Megan Smith, Autumn Bockmiller, and Caden Bockmiller; her brother, Larry Shamp and his wife Susan of Summerfield, Florida; her sister, Wilma Blankenship of Lafayette, Indiana; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Darwin Lee and Helen Berneice Shamp; her brother, Don Shamp; and her sisters, Marge Robinette and Bette Smith.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 6:00 PM on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta, Oklahoma. Services celebrating Marilyn’s life will be at 12:30 PM on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, Oklahoma with Wilson Forrest and Steve Jarrett officiating.
