Cleveland

Marilyn Jean Flaherty, age 71, left this world on Sunday, April 13, 2025, in Cleveland, OK, and left behind a legacy of love, laughter, and spirited dedication to both her family and the animals she so dearly cared for. She was born on May 8, 1953, to the late Robert Slater and Kathryn (Williamson) Slater. Marilyn's vivacious presence enriched the lives of everyone she met.

As a dedicated Veterinary Technician, Marilyn channeled her spirited nature into her work with animals, deeply involving herself in the world of Rodeos and embracing her profound love for horses. She had an infectious enthusiasm that she applied to every aspect of her professional life, touching the hearts and lives of numerous animals and their owners.

Marilyn's zest for life extended to her home life with her adored daughters, Angela Faircloth and husband Chris of South Carolina and Jessica Borba and husband Tony of Coweta. She left a significant imprint on her eight grandchildren, inspiring them with her boundless energy and unconditional love, along with her sister Nancy Arnold with husband Jack of San Antonio, TX, remembering Marilyn as the family's beacon of joy, as do a host of cousins, family members, and loving friends.

Her lifelong friendship with Suzanne Horne, cultivated since the 8th grade, stood as a testament to her steadfast loyalty and affection. Marilyn's life was marked by many beautiful relationships, including the enduring memory of her late son Timothy Sayon in 1997, and Bruce Barnes, the love of her life who passed away in 2023.

Marilyn's laughter, wisdom, and love endure as a bright, guiding light to all who were a part of her wondrous journey.
