Marie Whitby

Marie Whitby, age 74, of Coweta passed away on Saturday morning, April 11, 2015 at Hillcrest Hospital South in Tulsa, OK. Marie was born on March 14, 1941 in Stilwell, OK to James Cleveland and Iona Madison (Walker) Johnson. She and Bobby Dean Whitby, Sr. were married on December 30, 1983 in Broken Arrow, OK and he preceded her in death on December 16, 2010. Marie owned and operated World of Marble from 1982 to 1995. She was also a homemaker who loved caring for her family. Marie was a member of Clearview Baptist Church in Broken Arrow. She enjoyed writing short stories, sewing, cooking, doing church activities, going to Sunday school class and she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Marie is survived by 5 children, Curtiss Beck and wife, Teresa Anthony, of Coweta, OK, Michael Beck of Muskogee, OK, Cheryl Denton and husband, Mike, of Porter, OK, Bobby D. Whitby, Jr. of Claremore, OK and Kenneth E. Whitby and wife, Martina, of Azle, TX; 15 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bobby Dean Whitby, Sr., 1 son, Mo Beck, 4 brothers, 3 sisters and 2 half brothers. Viewing will be from 9 AM to 8 PM on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Wright-Brown Family Funeral Home. Funeral services celebrating Marie's life will be at 10 AM on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Clearview Baptist Church in Broken Arrow, OK with Pastor Larry McDonald officiating. Burial will be at 2 PM on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Williams Cemetery in Licking, MO. Pallbearers are Bobby D. Whitby, Jr., Kenneth E.
