Marie Gwinnup

September 1, 1943 — April 15, 2024

Coweta

Marie Gwinnup, age 80, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, leaving a legacy of love and cherished memories. She was born on September 1, 1943, in Maplesville, Alabama, to John Lucas Ratliff and Myrtie Mae (Nichols) Ratliff.

On August 3, 1963, in Fort Worth, Texas, Marie married her beloved husband, John Gwinnup, beginning a beautiful journey of 60 years together. Their love story was one of a kind, truly love at first site meeting at the Lone Star Drive-In in June and married in August. Together they built a family rooted in love and togetherness. Marie is survived by her husband, John Gwinnup and their three daughters and their beautiful families, Angie and Sam Fisher of Broken Arrow, Ann and Kevin Dismang of Wagoner, and Jan and Travis Burr of Coweta. Her daughters were the apples of her eye, and she took immense pride in their lives and accomplishments.

Marie's pride and joy extended to her six grandchildren and their families, Vannessa and David Richey, Sean Fisher and Maddie Breedlove, Raegan Burr, Logan Burr, Zack Dismang, and Jake Dismang, whose lives she enriched with her unconditional love and devotion. The bond she shared with them, and the special moments spent shopping, watching sporting events, family vacations, and her joy looking through family pictures, will be treasured forever.

Marie was a 1961 graduate of Maplesville High School and displayed a strong work ethic throughout her career. She contributed her talents in data entry to TV Guide, Bank of Oklahoma Mortgage, Getty, Texaco, and Montgomery Wards before retiring in 2002. Her commitment to her work was rivaled only by her dedication to her family and her passions.

A woman of many interests, Marie enjoyed quilting, reading avidly, and even owned the quaint "Little House Book Store" in Coweta. She loved spending many days at the ball fields with the girls and spent delightful days accompanying John to car shows, a pastime they both enjoyed.

Though her loss is profoundly felt, the legacy of Marie Gwinnup's nurturing spirit and unwavering love will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
