Marie Evans

On December 2, 1942, a beautiful baby girl was born to Ruby Carwile and Robert "Bob" Thurman Smith. She was born in Los Angeles, California and she was raised in Coweta, Oklahoma by her grandmother Louise Smith who preceded her in death. Her father, Robert Thurman Smith, mother, Ruby Smith, son, John Wesley Evans III, granddaughter, Angla Nicole Gilstrap, brother, Bobby Lee Smith preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her daughter, Shelia Gilstrap and Michael Dennis, son, Robert Evans and wife, Doloris Brooks, grandson, Robert Evans, Jr., sisters, Carol Sue, Liz, Sandra, and Shawnie, brothers, Michael, Delmar, and Marcus, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Marie "Ree" was a member of Wilson Chapel C.M.E. Church for four years. She was a stewardess for many years. Marie attended grade school at Kemper School and attended high school in Coweta, Oklahoma. Marie loved going to church - her favorite song for the choir to sing is "It Ain't Over" and we thank you Lord for our Journey. Dinner will be served right after the service at Wilson Chapel C.M.E. Chuch. A Homegoing Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Wilson Chapel C.M.E. Church with Rev. Willie Jean Mackland officiating.
