Tulsa

Lyle Edward Davis of Stone Bluff, Oklahoma, passed from this life on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at Stone Bluff, Oklahoma.

He was born on March 22, 1944, in the town of French Camp, in the San Joaquin Valley in California, to Thomas Jefferson and Valta Mae (Shock) Davis. He graduated junior high in Mountain Home, Arkansas; high school at Branson, Missouri; and obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting and Business at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas, in 1966.

Lyle married Victoria (Vicky) Charlene Cummings, of Branson, Missouri, on his 20th birthday in 1964. She was the daughter of Captain Vince and Clara Mable (Tinker) Cummings of Branson. Lyle and Vicky moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1966, where Lyle began a career with predecessors of Amoco Corporation that lasted 33 years, and both Lyle and Vicky were active in the children and golden ager bus ministries for various congregations of the churches of Christ in the greater Tulsa area for many years.

Lyle enjoyed primitive camps while hunting deer and building motors for family vehicles and drag racing. In his youth, he was an avid hill climber on motorcycles and enjoyed playing tennis with friends and jogging with his wife. In later years, he spent time collecting ancestry data for over 8,000 individuals. Lyle’s greatest love was the Bible, which he called simply “the Words of Life.” In addition to his children and grandchildren, Lyle held a special love for long-time friends Dale & Billie Shoemake, Eddie & Pat Gilliss, Sam & Charlene Dunlap, and neighbors Vernon & Karen Yocham, Jim & Letha Brazeal, and Bobby and Paula Roberts.

Survivors include his son, Monte Davis, and wife, Chereece, of Sugar Land, Texas; three daughters, Shelley Lopez, of Bristow, Oklahoma, Molly Heffner of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Amera Chalakee of Coweta, Oklahoma; and seven grandchildren, Blake Davis, Karley Davis, Devin Davis, Jett Green, Brooklyn Heffner, Jakob Davis, and Victoria Jualice Chalakee.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, a sister, Carol Jean Malone, a brother, Erwin Lee Davis, and a son-in-law, Enrique Sean Lopez (Shelley's husband).
