Loyd J. Wilson, age 76, of Coweta passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, July 2, 2011 at his home in Coweta, OK, surrounded by his loved ones. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. Loyd was born on May 4, 1935 in Blackburn, OK to his parents, Spurgian Willis and Iva E. (Boggs) Wilson. He attended school in Sand Springs, OK. A proud veteran of the Korean War, he served in the United States Army. Loyd enlisted in the Army on September 24, 1954 and was honorably discharged on September 8, 1956. He and Darlene Potter were married on June 23, 1958 in Noel, MO. In 1965, he and Darlene moved from Sand Springs, OK to the Coweta area, where they have made their home for the past 46 years. Loyd worked as a Gas Pipeline Inspector for Williams Company for over 25 years until he retired in 2001. He was of the Baptist faith. Loyd enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. Loyd is lovingly survived by his wife, Darlene of the home; four children, Gary of Broken Arrow, OK, Rhonda, Kelly and Dana, all of Coweta, OK; one sister, Irlene Armstrong of Sand Springs, OK; three brothers, Bruce Wilson of Sand Springs, OK, Ellis Wilson of Owasso, OK and Roy Wilson of Sand Springs, OK; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Loyd was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Loveta Armstrong and two brothers, George Wilson and Elmer Wilson. The family will be present at a visitation on Wednesday evening, July 6, 2011 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. The funeral service for Loyd will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at the Coweta Assembly of God in Coweta, OK with Pastor Kenneth Chapman and Pastor Larry Brown officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta. Pallbearers are Keith Million, Chris Atwell, Justin Holmes, Glenn Logue, Brad Wilson, Mike Wilson, Ricky Potter and Keith Brians. Honorary Pallbearers are Elgin Harp, Marvin Harrell, Roy Sewell, Buck Meehan, J.W. Denton and Ronald Todd. The family of Loyd Wilson entrusted his care and services to Wright Funeral Home, 210 S.
