Loyd Allen Reid, born February 12, 1951, passed away on October 16, 2024, at the age of 73. A proud graduate of Glenpool High School, Class of 1969, where he earned the World History Award, Allen went on to serve his country honorably in the Navy as a Torpedoman's Mate. During his service, he excelled in eight service schools, finishing each in the top ten percent of his class.

After his military service, Allen pursued his passion for learning by enrolling in the Oklahoma School of Accountancy. Through sheer determination and dedication, he attended night classes for six years and earned his bachelor’s degree in Commercial Science, with a keen interest in Law & Taxation.

Allen's professional life saw him working in various industries, but he was primarily known for his role as an insurance adjuster. He had a love for cooking, often watching cooking shows and delighting friends and family with his smoked meats. His joy for hunting and being on the lake-whether boating, fishing, or simply soaking in the sunshine with music and laughter-was infectious.

Allen was a man who valued relationships over material possessions. His success was measured by the camaraderie and love he shared with those around him. A fervent fan of Oklahoma University (OU) football, he was known for enthusiastically playing the Boomer Sooner song each time OU scored.

Allen leaves behind a daughter, Stephanie Reid and partner Katherine Rodgers, and a son Charles “Chuck” Reid and wife Alecia, in addition to his five grandchildren; Carson, Ethan, Coby, Caitlyn, and Rickey. He is also survived by his two sisters, Pat Dawson and husband Hugh, and Nita Farquharson, and husband Ray, one brother, Reece Reid, and his true love, Cote de Pablo.

Allen was preceded in death by his Parents, Charles and Bernice Reid, and his brother Charles “Chuck” E. Reid, Jr.

Allen leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and genuine human connection. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. A Celebration of Life will take place in Allen's cherished location, Party Cove at Lake Tenkiller, Oklahoma, during the summer of 2025. Exact date to be determined.
