Lotha Mae Smith of Coweta passed away on Monday evening, June 18, 2007 at her home. She was 79 years. Lotha Mae was born on January 22, 1928 in Bixby, Oklahoma to L.B. and Ora Belle (Powell) McIntosh. She received her education in the Tulsa school system and graduated from Central High School in 1946. She and Leward F. Smith were united in marriage on September 18, 1948. Lotha Mae worked as a secretary/bookkeeper at Blue Cross and Blue Shield for seven years. She also owned and operated Smith Services for 28 years. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Coweta. She enjoyed cooking and baking. Survivors include two sons, Hollis Smith of Coweta and Gary McDaniel and his wife, Charlotte, of Tulsa; one daughter, Frankie Horne and her husband, Terry, of Coweta; one brother, Benjamin Fae McIntosh of Tulsa; her companion, Jack W. Leyh of Coweta; nine grandchildren, Melissa Ireland, Ryan McDaniel, Ashley McDaniel, Andrew Smith, Rodney Baum, April Smith, Autumn Smith, Jaclyn Hopping, and Abigail Horne; and two great grandchildren. Extended family members she raised include Ricky McDaniel, Jack Moss, Cathe Kehe, Martha Rhyne, Milana Johnson, Paul Mader, John Mader, BesAnn Troy, and Heather Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2007 at First Baptist Church in Coweta with Pastor D. Frank Hughes and Pastor Randy Wisdom officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements and services are under the direction of Wright Funeral Home in Coweta.
