Loretta Ann Keel, known to most as “Pete”, longtime Broken Arrow resident went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday afternoon, May 4, 2021 at Ascension St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 75. Pete was born on August 6, 1945 in Tulsa, Oklahoma and was the daughter of Ralph Oliver and Beatrice Irene (Wilson) Gilbert. She was a 1963 graduate of Coweta High School and then attended Beauty School. Pete married the love of her life, Dwight Edwin Keel on September 11, 1965 in Coweta, Oklahoma. She was a devoted homemaker for most of her life who loved taking care of her family. Pete was a member of Lone Star Baptist Church in Coweta. Her family was her world and she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Pete is survived by her husband of 55 years, Dwight Keel of the home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; three sons, John Keel and wife Tracey of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Ralph Keel and wife Shannon of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Clint Keel and wife Mieki of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren, Morgan Miller and husband Phillip, Maranda Downum and husband Steven, Colton Keel, Ashley Sexton and husband Richard, Christina Matson and husband Ryan, Lacey Carothers and husband Derick, Clint Dirteater and wife Desire, Blake Dirteater and wife Kylee, Clint Keel Jr. and wife Zoe, and Kayla Keel-Sonnier; sixteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Vera Morrow of Coweta, Oklahoma and Doris Newman and husband Herman of Coweta, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Pete was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Oliver and Beatrice Irene Gilbert and an infant daughter, Amanda Keel.
Graveside services celebrating Pete’s life will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 7, 2021 at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, Oklahoma with Rev. Sam Davis officiating.
Pallbearers are Clint Keel Jr., Colton Keel, Blake Dirteater, Clint Dirteater, Phillip Miller, Steven Downum, and Derick Carothers.
