Loretta Dorene Day, age 79, longtime resident of Coweta went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday afternoon, October 4, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK. She was born on September 15, 1931 in Coweta, OK to Tess and Ethel (Ireland) Lantz. Dorene was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother to her family. She attended school in Coweta and Broken Arrow. Dorene and William Dalton Day were married on December 27, 1947 in Coweta, OK. She worked as a teller at the First National Bank of Broken Arrow for 17 years until she retired in 1998. Dorene was a member of the Airport Free Will Baptist Church in Tulsa, OK. She was an avid reader and enjoyed gospel music. Dorene loved spending time with her family. Dorene is survived by her husband of 62 years, William Dalton Day of the home; two sons, Lantz Day and Rick Day, both of Tulsa, OK; one daughter, Sharon Garrigus of Broken Arrow, OK; two sisters, Maxine Collier and Ima Jean Chauncey, both of Broken Arrow, OK; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Dorene was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Sandra McMillan and one grandson, Cody McMillan. A graveside service for Dorene will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK with Rev. Glenn Lewis officiating.
