Lonnie D. Holmes

Lonnie D. Holmes, 57 year old Coweta resident, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, August 5, 2014 at his home in Coweta, OK surrounded by his family. Lonnie was born on August 18, 1956 in Coweta, OK to Billie and Imogene (Hester) Holmes. He was a 1974 graduate of Coweta High School. Lonnie was a proud veteran of the United States Army National Guard, serving from 1974 to 1988. He owned and operated LonHolm Construction for 10 years. He previously worked as Plant Supervisor at Chem Central for 15 years and as a Controller for Sun Oil for 5 years. He enjoyed hunting, raising cattle, bird dogs, bird hunting and bowling. Lonnie is survived by his daughter, Kelli Vance of Barboursville, West Virginia; his parents, Billie and Imogene Holmes of Coweta, OK; 2 brothers, Tony Holmes and wife, Debbie, of Coweta, OK and Gary Holmes and wife, Tonda, of Coweta, OK; 2 sisters, Rhonda Thompson and husband, Ervin, of Coweta, OK and Cynthia Medlock and husband, Jerry, of Broken Arrow, OK; 2 grandchildren, Brian Rodgers and Cindy and Joe Stowers; 1 great grandchild, Asher Stowers; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Lonnie was preceded in death by his son, Brian Holmes, 1 sister, Cheryl Kay and his grandparents. Viewing will be from 9 AM - 8 PM on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Wright-Brown Family Funeral Home with the family greeting friends from 6 PM - 8 PM. Funeral services celebrating the life of Lonnie will be at 2 PM Friday, August 8, 2014 at Thomas Community Church in Broken Arrow, OK with Tony Holmes officiating and Pastor Len Reimer and Pastor Mike Hughart assisting. Interment will follow in Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK. Pallbearers are Jeremy Thompson, Heath Holmes, Billy Holmes, Aaron Thompson, Mac Carver and Brent Terry. Honorary Pallbearers are Raymond Holmes, Stanley Holmes, Rick Holmes, Harvey Holmes, Dennis Holmes, Onis Holmes, Jim Billy Hewitt and Loyd Hester.
