Lois Cloe Gray

Lois Cloe (Carmichael) Gray passed away at Carnegie Village Home in Belton, Missouri on July 11, 2023 at the age of 91.

Lois met her husband John Oct. 13, 1950 at a picnic given by Verna Gray, John's brother's wife, who was also a friend of Lois's.  They immediately became good friends (John proposed on Oct. 14, 1950) and were married on Oct. 21, 1950 in Bentonville, Arkansas.

They had been married 63 Years when John Gray passed away in March of 2013. They moved several times so that John could find work.  They lived in Kansas City, Missouri; Florida; Lee's Summit, Missouri; Raytown, Missouri, and Phoenix, Arizona.  When it was time to retire, the place they chose was Coweta, Oklahoma to be close to John's brother Hugh.

Lois worked as a nurse's aide for 30 years, mostly in Arizona.  Lois and John loved their homes, family, camping, and gardening.  Lois also loved her Lord and being a Christian.  She read her Bible through several times and was involved in the church in every way she could including teaching Sunday School and Bible School.

She lived a full and active life taking care of her acre and a half home in Coweta until she was 90 years of age, after which time she came to live with her children.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband John; parents Robert & Lois Carmichael; sisters Janice Ritchie and Wanda Wild; brothers Harold Carmichael and R.E. Carmichael; daughter Judith Marie Jones; and son Bruce Wayne Gray.

Surviving her are daughter Deon (Allen) Bryant of Lee's Summit, Missouri; son Bryan (Lee Ann) Gray of Rhododendron, Oregon; sisters Audrey (James) Neighbors of Alamo, Texas, Helen (J.D.) Justus of Warrensburg, Missouri, and Dora Ann Reider of Lawrence, Kansas. Also mourning her passing are 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 16 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation for Lois will be from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta, Oklahoma.  A graveside service celebrating the life of Lois will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 21, 2023 at Mound Cemetery in Galena, Kansas with Tony Holmes officiating.  Pallbearers are Mark Bryant, Ethan Gray, Tim Smith, James Gray, Andrew Gray, and Scott Arnold.
