Lillie Maude Massey of Coweta passed away on Saturday evening, May 5, 2007 at her home. She was 83 years old. Lillie was born on March 5, 1924 in Natural Dam, Arkansas to Eugene Earl and Lula Afred (Smith) Deffenbaugh. She received her education and graduated from high school in the Cedarvale, Arkansas school system. On April 27, 1946 she and J.B. Massey, Jr. were married in Natural Dam, Arkansas. They were married for 61 years. They came to the Coweta area in 1973 from Tulsa. Lillie was a homemaker for most of her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Coweta. Her hobbies included crocheting and writing poetry. She also loved doing church work. Survivors include her husband, J.B. of the home; one son, Steven Massey of Coweta; one daughter, Phyllis E. Wilson of Broken Arrow; one brother, Cliff Deffenbaugh of Poteau, Oklahoma; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, E.E. and Lula Deffenbaugh, three brothers, Harold, Earl, and Clarence Deffenbaugh, and one sister, Helen Thiel. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, May 9, 2007 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 10, 2007 at First Baptist Church in Coweta with Reverend David Jones officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements and services are under the direction of Wright Funeral Home in Coweta. Honorary pallbearers were Darold Wasson, Roy Martin, and Claude Coselman. Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Massey to the American Cancer Society, 4323 NW 63rd Street, Suite 110, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73116-1513.
