Lester Eugene Rogers

Lester Eugene Rogers of Broken Arrow, OK, age 87, passed away Sunday afternoon, December 29, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK. Lester was born on June 18, 1926 in Broken Arrow, OK and was the son of Grace Mashburn and Willie W.W. "Bill" Rogers. He and Alice Chance were united in marriage on August 9, 1947 in Coweta, OK. Lester worked at Kaiser Aluminum as a smelter for 31 years until he retired in 1990. He was a member of The Assembly at Broken Arrow. He enjoyed fishing, camping, reading, traveling, being outdoors and spending time with his family. Lester is survived by his wife of 66 years, Alice Rogers of the home in Broken Arrow, OK; 3 daughters, Sue Coker & husband, Taylor, of Coweta, OK, Neva Bell & husband, David, of Tulsa, OK and Nila Davis & husband, Tony, of Broken Arrow, OK; 1 son, Gary Rogers & wife, Christine, of Broken Arrow, OK; 3 sisters, Anna Mae Morton of Broken Arrow, OK, Nadine Clark of Broken Arrow, OK and Florine Creek & husband, Ellis, of Broken Arrow, OK; 7 grandchildren, Becky King & husband, Kris, Laura Parker & husband, Randy, Jennifer Austin & husband, Troy, Michael Rogers & wife, Mercedes, Ellen Buchanan & husband, Beau, Amanda James & husband, Chris, and Travis Rose & wife, Stephanie; 11 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Lester was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Norma Curtis. Family will greet friends at the funeral home Thursday evening, January 2, 2014 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm Friday, January 3, 2014 at The Assembly at Broken Arrow, 3500 W. New Orleans Street, Broken Arrow, OK 74012. Pastor Barry Simon will officiate the service with Don Love assisting. Interment will follow at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK. Pallbearers are Paul Chance, Olen Chance, James Chance, Harold Chance, Jesse Parker and Bryan Parker. Honorary Pallbearers are Marvin Chance, Mike Clark, Kent Clark and Ronnie Curtis.
