Leota Evelyn Williams-Hand, age 85, of Coweta departed this life on Sunday morning, September 28, 2008 at Coweta Manor Nursing Home. She was born on February 2, 1923 in Coweta, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Ramond and Lettie (Justus) Erwin. Leota received her education at Muddy Flatt and Coweta schools. On January 31, 1944 she and Olaf Williams were united in marriage in Coweta, Oklahoma. They lived in Porter and Coweta all their married life. Olaf preceded her in death in 1980. In 1988, she married Orlen L. Hand and he also preceded her in death in 1992. Leota was a homemaker and a farmer's wife and did all the hard work that was associated with farming. She hauled hay, helped Olaf in the fields, milked cows and raised a large garden every year. She also taught her children to work at young ages. Leota's favorite thing to do was to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She loved to cook big meals on Sundays and holidays. Her hobbies were gardening, fishing, camping, playing dominoes, and traveling with the children. She was a member of the Lighthouse Tabernacle Church which she loved to attend. Leota enjoyed life and liked to have fun. Survivors include two sons, Laverne Williams and his wife, Marie, of Coweta and Dwain "Cutty" Williams and his wife, Glenna, of Wagoner; five daughters, Sandy Martin and her husband, Junior, of Coweta, Linda Miller of Tulsa, Kathy Williams of Coweta, Nancy Voyles and her husband, Jim, of Wagoner, and Nita Winters and her husband, Gary, of Tulsa; one step daughter, Joyce Cox and her husband, Phil, of Paris, Texas; one brother, Edmond Erwin of Coweta; and one daughter-in-law, Susan Yocham of Coweta. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, other relatives, and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, one son, Larry "Bimbo" Williams, two brothers, three sisters, and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2008 at the First Assembly of God in Coweta with Rev. Gary Rogers officiating and Robin Reese speaking. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements and services are under the direction of Wright Funeral Home.
