Leon Thomas

Leon H. Thomas, age 75, of Chelsea, OK, formerly of Coweta, OK, departed this life on early Thursday morning, July 2, 2009 at Frances Streitel Villa in Collinsville, OK. He was born on December 14, 1933 in Porter, OK to Charlie Elmer and Minnie Bell (Molloy) Thomas. Leon attended Hidden Valley School through the 8th grade. He and Leslie Patterson were united in marriage on December 14, 1975 in Miami, OK. Leon was a cowboy and a cattle rancher for 54 years. Leon lived in Coweta for most of his life. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the American Quarter Horse Association. Leon enjoyed fishing, camping, horses and he loved spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him. Leon was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one granddaughter. Leon is lovingly survived by his wife, Leslie of the home; six sons, Dennis Thomas of Catoosa, OK, Monte Thomas and his wife, Debbie, Wayne Thomas and his wife, Lesia, Andy Thomas and his wife, Jennifer, Larry Lamb, and Bucket Thomas and his companion, Andrea Foster, all of Coweta, OK; three daughters, Renea Peterson of Sand Springs, OK, Deena Carrier and her husband, David, of Chelsea, OK, and Kim Mason of Kansas City, Missouri; three brothers, Jesse Thomas of Coweta, OK, Cloude Thomas of Collinsville, OK, and Jerry Thomas of Boynton, OK; three sisters, Doris Hewitt of Catoosa, OK, Carol Faulkner of Claremore, OK, and Betty Cason of Coweta, OK; 18 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 6, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Coweta, OK with the Rev. David Jones officiating. A visitation will be held from 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. on Friday, July 3, 2009 at Wright Funeral Home. Family and friends may view the obituary and send condolences to the family online @ www.wrightfh.net.
