Lee Shieldnight

Lee Shieldnight, age 93, lifelong resident of Coweta went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, April 5, 2015 at his home in Coweta, OK surrounded by his family. Lee was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather, uncle and friend. He was born on May 30, 1921 in Coweta, OK and was the son of Alfred P. and Corda Shieldnight. Lee was a 1940 graduate of Coweta High School. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving in World War II. Lee married his lifelong love, Betty Jean (Darnell) Shieldnight on May 11, 1941 in Bixby, OK and they were married 71 years until she preceded him in death on January 30, 2013. Lee was a Machinist at National Tank Company for 26 years until he retired in 1983. He was a also a farmer, ran a milk route and owned Lonestar General Store. Lee was a longtime and faithful member of the First Christian Church in Coweta. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, camping and spending time with his family. Lee is survived by 1 son, Mike Shieldnight and wife, Connie, of Broken Arrow, OK; 2 daughters, Judy Meehan and husband, Buck, of Coweta, OK and Vicki Dixon and husband, Wayne, of Allen, TX; 1 brother, Kent Shieldnight and wife, Karen, of Coweta, OK; 1 sister, Jean Wasson of Coweta, OK; 10 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Lee was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Shieldnight, his parents, Alfred P. and Corda Shieldnight, 2 brothers, Edward Shieldnight and Joe Shieldnight, an infant son, Don Gene Shieldnight and an infant brother, Robert Shieldnight. Funeral services celebrating Lee's life will be at 10 AM on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at the First Christian Church in Coweta, OK with Pastor Rusty Fuller officiating and Pastor Jim Woolsey, Jr., Pastor Tim Dotson and Pastor Mark Shieldnight assisting. Viewing will be from 9 AM - 8 PM on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at the funeral home with the family being present from 6:30 PM - 8 PM. Interment will be in Vernon Cemetery in Coweta. Pallbearers are J.R. Dixon, Kurt Shieldnight, Curtis Simpson, Wade Meehan, Todd Simpson and Lance Shieldnight. Honorary Pallbearers are Boe Meehan, Brady Meehan, Clay Shieldnight and Bryce Meehan.
