Lee Evert Massey, Jr., age 75, longtime Coweta resident went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday evening, June 11, 2021 at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Lee was born on August 31, 1945 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and was the son of Lee Evert Massey, Sr. and Ruth (Muggy) Massey. He attended school in Broken Arrow and Coweta and graduated from Coweta High School in 1964. Lee married the love of his life, Linda Mae Dykes on August 27, 1965 in Coweta. He worked as a welder at Oklahoma Steel and retired from Ingersoll / Dresser-Rand in 1993. Lee was a member of the Coweta Church of God of Prophecy. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, being outdoors, and he loved spending time with his family.
Lee is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda Massey of the home in Coweta, Oklahoma; one son, Darren Robert Massey and wife Sandra of Staunton, Virginia; three daughters, Dana Lynn James and husband Calvin of Coweta, Oklahoma, Donna Leigh Mizelle and husband Bryan of Bentonville, Arkansas, and Diana Joy Burton of Centerton, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Kayla, Candace, Chance, Caitlyn, Ashtin, Mckenzie, Austin, and Evan; nine great grandchildren, McKenna, Tanner, Alexis, Landon, Easton, Madelynn, Carlea, Elyse, and Chandler; his sister-in-law, Merry Massey of Coweta, Oklahoma; his mother-in-law, Ella Mae Dykes of Coweta, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Evert Massey, Sr. and Ruth Massey; two brothers, Charles Massey and Robert “Bob” Massey; two sisters, Carolyn McMahan and Lou Crussel; his son-in-law, Todd Burton; and his father-in-law, Ruben Dykes.
Visitation will be from 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta with the family present to receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Services celebrating Lee’s life will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at the Coweta Church of God of Prophecy in Coweta, Oklahoma with Pastor Larry Duncan officiating. Lee will be laid to rest at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, Oklahoma.
Pallbearers are Chance Massey, Brett Harris, Matt Davis, Tyler Lightner, Jeremy Hedrick, and Austin Mizelle.
