Lavena Gibson

LaVena E. Gibson, age 94, passed away on September 19, 2010 at 11:45 a.m. at the Loogootee Nursing Center. Lavena E. (Finn) Gibson was born December 19, 1915 near Leora, Missouri. She was the daughter of Ernest and Virgie (Finn) Gibson. On October 1, 1937 she was united in marriage to Victor Gibson. To this union seven children were born: Rev. Keith Gibson of Shoals, Russell Gibson of Witchita, KS, Marjorie Scannell of Broken Arrow, OK, Judith Gellerman of Colorado Springs, Co., Mary Jackson of Coweta, OK, and Joel Gibson of Fort Lauderdale, FL. Survivors also include: Thirteen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of fifty-two years, and an infant daughter Rebecca Lynn. LaVena was a faithful helpmeet to her minister husband. She loved ministering to others. For the past sixteen years she made her home with her son, Keith, and his wife, Neoma of Shoals. Visitation will be held at the Queen-Lee Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Weisbach Community Church, where she regularly attended. Rev. James Southerland, Rev, John Ziegler, and Rev. Eugene Gray will officiate. Services were under the direction of Queen-Lee Funeral Home of Shoals, Indiana. Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 24, 2010 at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, Oklahoma with Rev. Ray Smith officiating. The family of LaVena Gibson entrusted her services to Wright Funeral Home, 210 S. Broadway, Coweta, OK 74429, (918) 486-5515.
