Laura Bell Walker, age 79, of Coweta passed from this life on Saturday evening, July 12, 2008 at Coweta Manor Nursing Home. Laura was born on July 9, 1929 in Natural Dam, Arkansas to Louis Jake and Avo (Richey) Young. She received her education in the Stilwell, Oklahoma school system. She and Elba Shirven Walker were united in marriage on April 18, 1947 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Laura worked as a clerk for Bolding Grocery Store for seven years. She also worked at Super H Grocery Store until her retirement in 1992. She was of the Free Will Baptist faith. Her hobbies included reading the Bible, genealogy, sewing, quilting, and scrapbooking. Survivors include one son, Eric Lynn Walker of Coweta; one daughter, Patricia Gail Steelman and her husband, James, of Hulbert; one brother, Buster Young and his wife, Pat, of Broken Arrow; two sisters, Margaret Jane Horn and her husband, Cody, of Tulsa and Mary Elizabeth Jones of Merritt Island, Florida; three grandchildren, James Paul Steelman, Heather E. Ferreira, and Joshua Adam Walker; three great grandchildren, Tiffany Steelman, Amy Ferreira, and Miguel Ferreira; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Marion "Bud" Young, Robert L. Young, and three sisters, Irene Arnold, Carlos Adkins, and Barbara Knight. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at Wright Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Henry Lee Stahl officiating. Inurnment will follow at Vernon Cemetery.
