Larry Gene Cornelius, 76, of Jenks, Oklahoma passed peacefully from this life early Thursday morning December 10, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born May 7, 1939 at Sallisaw, Sequoyah County, Oklahoma to the late Jimmy Ray Cornelius Sr., and Naomi "Nita" Vickery. He was preceded in death by his father, brother Jimmy Ray Cornelius Jr., and granddaughter Paige Howard. Surviving are, his loving wife Lailane of the home; son Larry Gene (Cornelius) Morgan and wife Elizabeth of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; daughter Kimberly Kaye Robertson and husband Troy of Mounds, Oklahoma; son Christopher Lee Cornelius of Mounds, Oklahoma; his mother Naomi "Nita" Cornelius of Coweta, Oklahoma; his sister Rosemary Hammons and husband Alen of Silver City, Oklahoma; and his brother Ronnie Cornelius of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He also leaves to cherish his memory, his grandchildren Joshua Gene Howard and Amanda Luker and husband Drew, Samantha Howard, Meghan, Nicholas and James Cornelius, and Allen McCaslin, great grandchildren Kayla Luker, Ian Luker and Payton Howard and many cousins and friends. Larry began his education in Sallisaw Public School, elementary grades in Catoosa, Oklahoma and graduated in 1957 at Central High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Afterwards, he joined the US Air Force where he spent 4 years as Air Police in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was an avid fisherman and a dedicated OU fan, at one time he listened to a game via telephone. At the time of his death he was employed at Covenant Security-Kimberly Clark, Jenks as Security Guard on medical leave. On March 5, 2015 he was married to Lailane Rosales of the Philippines and together they had 10 months of marital bliss before his death. A memorial service will be held at a later date with inurnment in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.
